Life-Saving Flights
Every week, the Taranaki Air Ambulance makes an average of 14 flights carrying patients to life-changing or life-saving medical care not available in Taranaki.
The fixed-wing service is specifically designed for expedient, comfortable and stable inter-hospital transfer across New Zealand.
In the last 12 months, the Taranaki Air Ambulance transported an average of 668 patients for medical care. Operating out of its hangar at New Plymouth Airport which includes an ambulance pickup and drop-off bay, patient care lounge, the Air Ambulance plays an essential role in delivering patients around the country for specialist health care.
In the last 12 months, the Taranaki Air Ambulance conducted 405 flights across New Zealand and flew 493 hours.
Beechcraft King Air C90A
The King Air C90A turbo-prop aircraft is fitted with a single Lifeport stretcher system and is capable of carrying an intensive care medical team. Powered by Pratt and Whitney PT6-21 engines, the C90A is renowned for safety, robustness and reliability. Our aircraft provides a quiet, comfortable atmosphere within the pressurized cabin and can fly above most turbulent weather.
